CLI 1400 Sealed Annular Array Probes
The CLI 1400 series are small, light-weight hand-held annular array imaging probes that, when coupled to appropriate multi-channel imaging electronics, provide variable focal depths and extended depths of field. This probe is ideal for high-resolution, high frequency imaging applications (12.0 – 18.0 MHz). The probe is hermetically sealed and may be detached from its cable for simple, easy cleaning and disinfecting.
Housing Options
The heart of the CLI probe is a sealed, nickel plated assembly containing all of the functional components of the probe. A plastic housing, or “cover”, is applied over this assembly to provide custom design elements. These covers can be designed by CLI or by the customer.
Applications
Adult Ophthalmology
Posterior chamber, or retinal imaging, is a frequent use of this probe. Variable focal depth capability (with appropriate electronics) allows interrogation of the gamut of adult orbit depths.
Pediatric Ophthalmology
Traditional single-channel imaging systems have a fixed focal depth best suited for adult size eyes (21-25mm axial depths). However, the axial depth of a newborn may be as short as 15 mm. A fixed focus probe designed for adult use will yield poor performance in the newborn eye unless some sort of awkward stand-off is used. An annular array probe with agile focus can easily place the best focus within these small orbits.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Orbit size varies considerably in the animal world. Most ultrasound systems used in veterinary practice are designed for human use and may not be optimal for some animals – those with eyes either larger or smaller than the human eye. The variable depth focal capabilities of annular array probes make them very well suited for a wide range of orbit sizes and, therefore, for a wide range of animals.
CLI is the world’s leading supplier of probes for ophthalmic applications.
Neurosurgery/Intraoperative
Because this probe is hermetically sealed, has a small diameter and is easily cleaned or disinfected, it is well suited for use in the O.R. The probe is suitable for scanning through burr holes, craniotomies and other surgical applications.
Small Animal Veterinary
Small size and a wide range of high frequencies make this probe valuable for various peripheral imaging applications in the small animal practice.
